2015 has been very successful for McSweeney Sports Surfaces and we are now finishing some projects which are scheduled for completion in the last remaining weeks of 2015, and early 2016.
Here are some of the projects, which we are extremely proud to be involved in:
Parents and guardians want their children to be safe in a playground; but we all know children just want a fun place to play!
With this in mind, we loved using the world’s number one playground supplier, KOMPAN, when we were designing and building the dynamic variety of activities at the Bunratty playground, to make both these worlds meet!
Kompan create imaginatively designed pieces with high play value and uncompromising safety. Each piece is unique and provides long-lasting quality, providing children with an enjoyable environment to play and socialise with other children, while adults can be assured of their safety and the learning value.
These fantastic pieces are environmentally friendly and can even be recycled when they reach their end of lifecycle.
St Angela’s College, Cork
St. Angela’s College, on Patrick’s Hill in Cork, has been undergoing extensive changes throughout the complex. Our part in this groundbreaking project was to provide the flooring of the new gym, and the exciting installation of an outdoor, rooftop 4G grass area.
Artificial grass is fantastic for sports and play, as it is a safe and shock absorbing surface. It’s particularly useful in Irish rainy weather as it quickly dries after rain. Unlike grass:
it allows all year round play
it doesn’t stay wet after rain
it doesn’t get muddy
it is much more durable than regular grass
it doesn’t rip up under constant use
it doesn’t stain or fade
Located on top of the gym, and safely caged – this uniquely placed pitch not only provides St. Angela’s with an amazing view of Cork city but also with a practical optimization of space.
Its non-slip, non-fade, non-stain surface will be a wonderful asset to St. Angela’s College and will provide the students with many happy years of play!
The amazing new gym / sports hall in St. Angela’s was created with an elastic gym floor surface. It is a large space which will really benefit all the students.
This, combined with the rooftop 4G sports area, has added to St. Angela’s College’s modern and innovative facility.
Cathal Brugha Barracks
This year the historical Cathal Brugha Barracks, in Portabello/Rathmines area of Dublin, received a full turn-key project from McSweeney Sports Surfaces. We were very proud to be providing our service to such a landmark location!
The pitches, which are used by the soldiers and staff of the barracks, is also used by some local schools in the area such as Rathmines College and St. Louis Senior Primary School.
These pitches are now all-weather pitches and marked out for soccer, volleyball and tennis too.
We also had to include the creation of surround fencing and flood lighting to ensure the facilities could be used into the dark evenings. As a turn-key project, we handled all aspects of delivery and it is safe to say that the finished project is a delight for all who use it.
As you can see, McSweeney Sports Surfaces has had a very busy 2015 and we hope you have had a good year too. We want to take this opportunity to wish all our customers, suppliers, associates, friends and family a peaceful December,
and a very prosperous and happy 2016!
